What students say about Deborah's teaching style:
"Deborah's Iyengar yoga class does more than stretch and strengthen the body. It is a sacred time in my week to slow down, shut off mental chatter, and refresh the spirit. The practice is arduous, yet there is no preasure to perform. Deborah provides a quiet, supportive and down to earth encouragement to work to my body's best ability.
Yoga releases stress, builds my endurance and energy, releases me calmed and rejuvenated back into family and professional life.
Prenatal yoga prepared me in a way no other exercise could for a focused and joyful birth, and postnatal and intermediate yoga have since become an essential element to keep my body, mind and life in balance."

Deborah,
I wanted to thank you especially for last Saturday's class. I am trying to develop my own practice and it was very helpful to learn about the connection between headstand and following poses, such as shoulder stand or the forward bends we did in class. The modified headstand was also extremely helpful to me even though I struggled badly at it. I have the strength and focus to do headstand but not correctly. Between my shoulder and some disconnect with moving my shoulders away from my ears when I'm upside down, nothing seems to improve matters. Keeping my feet on the chair has helped me correct my posture in that pose.
You often talk about developing a home practice, which is something I am trying to do. It would really help me if you could speak more about that in class, whether it is assigning specific poses as homework or more general information.
Thanks,
John
